Our Commitment

The Blackstone Event Center is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities, including people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards to make our website usable and welcoming to as many people as possible.

Standards We Aim to Meet

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological disabilities.

Measures We Take

To support accessibility on our website, we aim to:

  • Provide meaningful alternative text for images

  • Ensure sufficient color contrast between text and background

  • Support keyboard navigation throughout the site

  • Use clear heading structures and descriptive link text

  • Ensure forms include properly labeled fields

  • Test our site periodically using accessibility evaluation tools

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. While we work to meet these standards across our entire website, some older content or third-party integrations (such as embedded booking tools or maps) may not yet fully conform.

Accessibility of Our Physical Venue

[This section is worth including if your venue hosts in-person events — fill in based on your actual property. Prompts below to help you draft it accurately:]

  • Is there accessible parking near the entrance?

  • Are the ceremony space, gathering hall, and garden/outdoor areas wheelchair accessible? Any steps, gravel paths, or uneven terrain guests should know about?

  • Are restrooms ADA-accessible?

  • Is there an accessible route between the three main spaces (ceremony space, gathering hall, garden)?

  • Are there accommodations available for guests with visual, hearing, or mobility needs (e.g., ramps, accessible seating areas, amplified sound)?

Sample framing once filled in:

"The Blackstone offers accessible parking near the front doors with a ramp on a paved pathway. If you or a guest have specific accessibility needs for an upcoming event, please contact us in advance at [email/phone] so we can help ensure a comfortable experience."

Historic buildings sometimes have genuine physical limitations — original stone steps, narrow doorways, uneven garden paths — that can't always be fully retrofitted without compromising the character of the space. If that's the case here, it's better to describe those limitations honestly on this page than to leave guests to discover them on event day. Couples and guests planning around mobility needs will appreciate knowing in advance, and it also protects you from complaints that could otherwise arise from an unpleasant surprise.

Feedback and Assistance

We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of our website and our venue. If you encounter any barriers, have difficulty accessing any content, or need to request accommodation for an event, please contact us:

The Blackstone [inquire@theblackstone1907.com]

We try to respond to accessibility feedback within 2 business days and will do our best to provide the information, item, or service you're seeking through an alternative communication method if needed.

Third-Party Content

Our website may include content or tools provided by third parties (such as embedded booking calendars, payment processors, maps, or social media feeds). While we select vendors who share our commitment to accessibility where possible, we do not have full control over the accessibility of third-party content and cannot guarantee it meets the same standards as the rest of our site.

Ongoing Efforts

We view accessibility as an ongoing process rather than a one-time fix. We periodically review our website and welcome feedback that helps us identify and correct accessibility barriers as they're found.
